Research and Development

GRC or GFRC as it is known in some countries was developed in the mid to late 20th century however manufacturing and testing techniques have changed little over the last 30 years.

We are committed to building on the extensive initial development work carried out in the 1960s and 70s with a programme of research and development which not only reduces manufacturing costs but also improves strength, durability and long term performance. Passionate about increasing the use of GRC as an envelope cladding material we also use our engineering, manufacturing and installation experience to develop new and innovative solutions which we believe will ensure the continued growth in use of the remarkable and unique composite

Quality Matters

Paradoxically reducing quality control and testing systems increases manufacturing costs as well as impacting on client expectations for finished projects.

All our research and development programmes are designed with only two objectives – improving performance and reducing manufacturing and installation costs. We’re working continually to optimise manufacturing times, reduce raw material costs whilst improving the primary flexural strength and ageing properties. This means continually evaluating new mix designs as well as developing new and modified production and testing processes.

Over the last 10 years our work has allowed manufacturers to reduce thickness through higher flexural strengths and take a more conservative approach to decline in strength. Both of these have a major impact on both reducing cost and improving durability

Ultra High Quality GRC

Our work over the last 10 years has culminated in the publication of our Specification for Ultra High Quality GRC. This has been developed by combining the most onerous aspects of BS EN 1169, the GRCA Specification and PCI MNL-130-09 into one all encompassing quality system. Additional testing requirements have also been added to ensure durability and give specifiers and users the ultimate confidence in GRC products.

This system can be adopted by any competent GRC manufacturer and when fully implemented into a manufacturing business can yield considerable manufacturing cost savings ensuring customers are benefiting from the highest quality products at competitive prices.
